We can't make it through a day in this country without a mass shooting. What's going on? There are too many irresponsible 2A owners and something must be done! Enough!!! #sundaysoapbox

The Jesus MAGA hides behind, was everything they’re trying to “cleanse” from the United States.

I'm already getting messages about being overly sensitive and sucking it up...as if that would be an expectation of any of the men. So let's to a #SundaySoapbox about my week, shall we?

Monday, I had debate with Maine Public.

I knew in advance the men wouldn't show up.

A very quick #SundaySoapbox -

Today @SwazeyforMaine swung by the Bangor Farmer's Market and we had a few minutes to chat.

He is swiftly coming to one of the most heartbreaking realizations I had about running for office - it's nearly impossible to do unless you are wealthy.

For today's #SundaySoapbox, it's a 2-step plan for democracy.

1. Implement ranked choice voting

2. USE ranked choice voting

Maine's Senate race is on step 2.

Let's get legislators who care about the quality or impact of laws more than attendance records and seating charts.

Today's #SundaySoapbox is a single tweet:

Maine is the only state that can evict money from the Senate race for free with zero political risk.

Write me in first, then rank as you would otherwise.

That's all you have to do, and if enough do it, voila...no money in politics!

I haven't done one for a while, so how about a #SundaySoapbox?

I've had a noticeable uptick in folks messaging me out of concern for following folks they don't agree with.

Please allow me to clarify my position: every person is welcome here, every idea is not.

It's been a while since I have done a #SundaySoapbox, so let's talk about a day running for office. Specifically, yesterday.

I am a middle-class, working mom with a spouse who is an essential worker running for the US Senate in a pandemic.

For today's #SundaySoapbox, I want to share the take-away I had from a conversation with a family friend who is a doctor.

We were discussing the problems of using data without anecdotal supplement to manage policy.

Many rural facilities don't produce enough data to manage with.

For today's #SundaySoapbox let's talk about #MaineRaising.

I have been getting a lot of pressure to accept money again. Problems with that...

1. Folks are clearly underestimating my commitment to run without funding

2. There is a deep misunderstanding of #MaineRaising ROI

For #SundaySoapbox, I want to talk about vaginas. 🙊

Not *just* vaginas, but all the icky, uncomfortable, "inappropriate" things that we should be able to discuss.

Right now, we have policy-makers making policy about things they won't discuss...that's not ok.

For today's #sundaysoapbox I want to talk about using small amounts of $ in remarkable ways.

We are 1 year from the 2020 elections.

You will have so many people begging you for political $ that it'll make you sick...maybe angry and poor.

I won't ever ask you to give me money.

For today's #SundaySoapbox I want to talk about what I want as a voter.

I'm watching folks switch to active campaigning with upbeat commercials, then letting others do the dirty work.

I see photo ops as if public office is a pageant.

I see poetic, vague claims.

Today for a #SundaySoapbox, I want to say a lot of things that are...not productive.

Instead, I'll share that the party I want to be a part of is all of us.

I'm very excited for us to find ways to change where politics is to a more healthy, productive space together.

Today I'd like to do a #SundaySoapbox that is related to my work.

You see, sometimes my clients are married to narcissists. Not your run-of-the-mill-generally self-involved jerk, actual diagnosed(able) narcissists.

For today's #SundaySoapbox, I want to talk to you about immigration.

We need immigrants, and it's not just for all the reasons we regularly hear - like replacement rates for an aging population, willingness to work horrible jobs, etc.

We need immigrants to replenish our soul.

I haven't done a #SundaySoapbox for a bit, so here is one inspired by expectations of women in politics.

This morning I woke up to 3 messages on the same tweet.

I've gotten some interesting criticisms tonight about only being anti-Susan and devoid of policy, which isn't even remotely accurate.

I'd like to shine a light back on you all with a quick #SundaySoapbox

Ps - I'm not asking you to trust each other. That is unrealistic with the level of conflict.

I'm asking you to trust me, and be ok with others who you don't agree with or trust trusting me too.

It's easy to yell, make you angry, and give you someone else to blame.

Next month, pick representatives who are kind, compassionate, collaborative, and able to own their flaws.

It makes a better us.

Fin.

Elevate people you know don't just agree with you.

Whether it's me or someone else, representing only one belief system is representing no one at all.

Those who define their opponents with fear of the other, not facts and shared goals are not leaders.

You all are wonderful, passionate, care deeply about our future, can be surprisingly kind, are funny...you all belong and I'll do what I can to make sure you know that and DC doesn't forget we represent all of us, not just those who vote with us.

If you see me connect with someone you would never, ever, EVER connect with, be happy, not mad. That's how we get out of this mess.

If we can't get to "the other side", we find someone who can talk to us both so we don't all lose.

If I seem overly sympathetic to the left or the right, it's because I know I could have been either. The right social circumstances could have landed me in either camp.

I've had enough exposure to both to land moderate and remember to pull back for perspective.

You might see me go too many rounds with a troll you find to be nuts; sometimes those trolls need someone to hear them and become some of my best supporters. It's hard to have faith in a system that doesn't see you...and we all know hope is a dick.

I see you.

You might roll your eyes at me with some of my conversations; others probably do the same when I talk to you.

You might periodically cringe at some of the language I use; sometimes people need information in a way they can process it.

Embrace this campaign as a place where you can find common ground.

Be open to a range of possibilities to shared solutions. Every political ideology has a benefit and detriment. Let's use those difference to find a better path than any of us can find alone.

#SundaySoapbox

If you find yourself pulling back because you see someone with a drastically different political perspective "on my side", don't.

Pause, and consider if you can agree on me, what else might you have in common?

We all want a world we can live in today and tomorrow, for the environment, for work, for our lifestyle choices and freedoms

We all mostly want to be able to do our own things, even if those things include others
