Comic page from Super Mario Adventures, in which Mario is found petrified. “Poor MARIO!” Luigi cries, “He can’t even SPEAK!” Peach is alarmed and shouts, “MARIO!” with nearby Toads wondering, “What HAPPENED to him?” The Toads then catastrophize, “Mario’s been TURNED TO STONE! It’s the END of our ADVENTURES!” We then cut to Peach, with flames of anger behind her and a ‘GRRRR’ sound effect in the foreground to punctuate her angry, who coolly remarks, “Don’t write us off YET! I, for one, REFUSE to be BULLIED.” She then leans out from her balcony, fist clenched, and shouts, “Bowser, you BUCKETHEAD! Put up your DUKES!” Bowser, calm with half-lidded eyes, replies, “CALM DOWN, now, princess, it’s up to you–you can MARRY ME, or RULE STATUES!” He then blows kisses, with googly eyes, as he bids her farewell, “TA TA, turtle dove, until next week. Here’s a SMOOCH for your sweet CHEEK.” He then goofily takes his whole Koopa clown car down a warp pipe with one big ‘SHWOOP!’ sound effect. Peach, meanwhile, zips off the balcony as she continues to holler angrily, “BOWSER, get BACK HERE!”
