A tall snifter full of dark beer with a thick tan head. The tall bottle has a black wax dipped neck and a devilish white and red terror pig on its front.
There's a story from early American folklore that has been passed down to the present day. It goes something like this....
Down in the hollow there lived a conjuring woman named Old Betty.
Her only companion was a razorback hog. One day, a trespassing hunter shot the hog and brought it to the butcher. Furious, Old Betty cast a spell to bring her one true friend back to life. The hog came back…wrong. And the hunter was never heard from again.
Legend has it that when the moon is full, you can still see Old Betty's friend stalking the hollow, astride the hunter's horse, searching for the one thing better than revenge: Darkness, Surlys celebrated imperial stout, and its signature notes af coffee, chocolate, and cherry.
So if you’re in the hollow one night, under a full moon, enjoying a bottle of Darkness? You may have some interesting company.
We recommend sharing.
Monday morning came in like the bottle art on this #SurlyBrewing Darkness 2025, snorting and cranky.
I’ll embrace the #darkness
Deep complexity, licorice nose, coffee and chocolate with a hoppy spice note and a slightly bitter stone fruit finish.
