Hard day today but there were bird friends in the yard to keep me company!

Nuthatch wasn't actually there, but the kinglets are singing so very much and it's delightful.

#TenMinMerlin 4-12-26 Minneapolis. Northern Cardinal, Dark-eyed Junco, American Goldfinch, Blue Jay, American Crow, Mourning Dove, House Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Brown-headed Cowbird. The migrants are slowly trickling in with Red-winged Blackbird and the Cowbirds. Yay!

#TenMinMerlin 44F clear skies, 21 birds this morning, beginning to doubt the Mocking Bird

11 entries - Chaffinch throughout again, also the Goldcrest an Goldfinch so I guess they're now as solid as it gets short of actually spotting them. Willow Warbler is new, but just two short hits that aren't obvious when played back.

11:24am today, first time for Dark-Eyed Junco and Bohemian Waxwing! It's also IDing purple finches and California gulls, which are unlikely (at least at this time of year). #TenMinMerlin

Chaffinch suggested throughout so more likely a good suggestion today. Finches and Siskin have only a couple of hits and I can't make anything out that's definitive amongst everything else.

The cold front has passed and we're back to springtime weather again, so my bird neighbors were nice and chatty this morning for my #TenMinMerlin

Two nights ago there was more migration movement than I had expected (based on BirdCast)-- not spring migrants arriving as much as winter residents taking off. I went from dozens of juncos to only one, overnight! Although I'm sure there will be more passing through from South of me

Starting to see migration here - so starting my #TenMinMerlin - altho to be honest, today was 20 because I got sidetracked.

It didn't pick up my pair of mallards or a single Canada goose that flew over.

Normal catch, most I see regularly in the area. The Goldfinch, Goldcrest, Siskin, and Chaffinch could be wrong; playing back I can't say anything matches the references clearly.

I ran the #TenMinMerlin about a half hour before sunset. I'm in a residential neighborhood, edge of town, across the street from a small but dense wooded ravine. The variety of birds I get here is remarkable. Oh, the Chipping Sparrows are back! 😀
