been researching #SIPplanter a few years now. this is the year I finally try my own. Repurposing an old outdoor storage bench and some black plastic pots I’ve been hoarding. Can’t decide what I’m going to plant though. Definitely some native beans like garbanzo and #tepary. But what else? #Zone10b

Graph comparing grain yield at UC Davis (UCD) and West Side Research and Extension Center (WSREC) under drought (x-axis) and well-watered (y-axis) of three bean species: tepary bean (blue), Lima bean (red), and common bean (green). Under both conditions, tepary bean has a superior yield to the other two species.
Field tests showing superiority of #tepary beans over other bean species under #drought conditions post-flowering. Tepary bean may, therefore, be a potential substitute for common bean under pervasive, human-caused #globalwarming conditions. For source, see next comment.
In @latimes.com: Opinion: An ancient, Indigenous, legendary bean to give thanks for. The #tepary bean is a #heat- and #drought-tolerant #bean and a potential alternative to other #grainlegume such as #commonbean (pinto, kidney, black, navy beans); see comment.
