Ducks #dabble beyond the pond
Where the weeds grow all year
They circle both round and round

Until the fish know who to fear

they called me impotent, i pitched a tent inside a pot, i thought it was important. the zipper stuck, but still i paid no rent. a tent, a pot, the rhyme was misinformant, i made it sound silly just by saying so. the dictionary isn’t that important. a pot without a lid will overflow, a tent without a stake will never stay. but words keep circling, round and round they go. i broke the word in pieces, let it play-- impotent, discontent, an elephant. there’s nothing powerless here, it’s just wordplay. so let me rhyme it wrong, irrelevant: impotent, potent, important, accident.

The remnants of a constant whirring Echo in these ears, so tired So assaulted, everything blurring Into one concussive, undesired Mass of sound. So used to the buzz, hardwired Into this mind, new silence is drowned By the shadow Of what was always in the background. Noise so constant, we didn't even notice Anything amiss When that slow and steady flow Ground to nothing, but a hiss Of feedback. Silence, unusual, disjointed, abyss An audible hole of pitch black Nothingness When nobody heard the world crack Too busy with machinery to notice Nature's worth Her voice slowly regress And no one heard the birth Of a new, empty, silent Earth.
