I would say it primarily comes out in how the characters interact with the environment around them, and that awful hollow feeling that takes over when regret runs the show.

I think the most scared I've been by a piece of music is "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" by The Beatles. My brain interpreted the white noise at the end as screaming, and there's a lot of it for a long time, so that rattled me pretty hard.

I'm a cornball, so I love to make music references (I stuck the names of the Soundgarden dudes in my manuscript). In terms of music in the story, I use it for ironic humor. And I'm trying to figure out how to have a character hyperfixate on a song without quoting.

Marley here! And since you phrased it this way, I think 'my horror' is having wasted too much time 😂 Most of the time I write in silence, so I don't switch over into 'making a playlist' mode and get nothing done. I do have a Werewolf-themed brainstorming playlist.
