New Jersey's Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), also known as the Sunshine Law, ensures public access to government meetings by requiring advance notice, allowing public attendance, and mandating minutes, applying to state, county, and local bodies like councils and boards. Key provisions include posting notices 48 hours ahead, defining what constitutes a "public body," allowing closed sessions for specific legal reasons (privacy, litigation), and covering various meeting formats, including digital ones, but not committee meetings below quorum.
