#SevenDays TV ep #3.01 "Stairway to Heaven" (11-Oct-00).
S3 begins and it's clear the execs have shat down their input over the creatives. What lies ahead?
Yes this ep tries to stretch the storytelling scope of the show but it's just more mystic mush masquerading as sci-fi.
Reminded me of #The4400

Taking some time out from reality today and re-watching 'The 4400' for the first time in 20 years. I wish they wrote TV like this these days. Good stuff!

Bernard's 2025 walkthroughs review.
English language shows:
#The4400: 5/10
Loses a point for its unwatchable 2021 remake but this show at best was a poor man's #Taken. It drifted aimlessly into thr superpowers genre. A strong cast deserved better. Underwhelmed.

I'm not gonna give reasons why this is terrible. Mainly the writing. Maybe COVID was an issue blah blah blah. I'm just never going to think of this modern version of 4400 ever again.
End of Walkthrough.
Do I recommend?
Original "The 4400" is worth time but stop there.
#The4400 TV ep #5.13 "Past is Prologue" (14-Feb-22).
I feel ashamed using the hashtag from "The 4400" instead of giving this a new "4400" only hashtag. The finale is dreadful and I mean it's complete crap. This show was always heading here as the writers hadn't a clue how to write this show.
#The4400 TV 5.12 cont'd.
Someone please cancel this God awful, boring, glacial, worthless, confused dross.
Oh ok it was ... TBTG!
One ep to to.
#The4400 TV 5.12 cont'd.
The world building is almost indecipherable. I've no idea who the factions are, what they want, how they fit in with the US government. It's so murky and everyone is virtue signaling as there is zero drama driving the arc. I don't even know what arc is taking place.
#The4400 TV ep #5.12 "Group Efforts" (07-Feb-22).
This isn't good.
The flashback is for Mildred but it's not of her last day. That's just more rule breaking. Her sister is a 4400 too. We don't see her final day either. Super dumb.
Patrick John Flueger from "The 4400" guests as a new character!
Got a metric shitload of content ( #CriticalRole ) to catch up on after being offline for 5 months.
Did NOT also need to see #The4400 and #Primeval free-streaming now on #Tubi.
You know I gotta ๐๏ธ.
#The4400 TV 5.11 cont'd.
What did Andre do in WWI? It's impossible to visualise him as a soldier or a frontline Doctor. Would a Doctor have learnt how to detonate a lock with an explosive in WWI?
The costuming is so odd again. Why is Logan in his civvies at the wedding? Covid or budget?
#The4400 TV 5.11 cont'd.
It'd be churlish of me to say this is what happens when you give a genre show to soap writers as there are good soap writers. But the lack of narrative momentum, actions/consequence is so odd. Characters stopping to talk emotions every 5 seconds does not a genre show make.
#The4400 TV 5.11 con'td.
Eventually you can only see the dumb stuff.
Mildred has a new look yet is in all Claudette's posters with that look?
Why isn't she arrested?
Why does Logan let Hayden be near her?
Hayden hides from the brick in the flight path of the brick.
Soraya at lesbian bowling night.
#The4400 Oops TV 5.11 I meant cont'd.
Manny is such a dull actor. His character is so generic mystery person that the mystery is how he got to be so dull considering he was the focus of the only arc of note for either of the two original main characters.
I did like that he had met Claudette mind.
#The4400 TV 5.10 cont'd.
Laura Terry - only been an Exec on a dating drama so no genre experience. Presumably wasn't a lead creative.
Creators of the OG "The 4400" Rene Echeverria & Scott Peters have their names on but seemingly weren't hands on?
Each ep does have a new writer I see?
#The4400 TV 5.10 cont'd.
Ariana Jackson- Uh-oh has S4, S5 and S7 of Riverdale on her CV. She did 4400 between S5 and S7 of #Riverdale. Also wrote some dating show comedy drama called UnREAL. Hmmm.
Janice Cooke- an old hand, done a bit of everything. Hard to get a handle on her input. Steering?
#The4400 TV 5.10 cont'd.
There are 4 women creatives. Ok there are strong female characters in 4400 even if they're often badly written.
Anna Fricke, Ariana Jackson, Janice Cooke, Laura Terry.
Fricke- has some ok genre fare on CV but also S2 of Wayward Pines, Minority Report. Not seen Walker.
#The4400 TV ep #5.10 "You Only Meant Well" (24-Jan-22).
Why is this show so insipid, clunky and vague? I don't normally look inside baseball on my walkthroughs but let me try get a handle on why this is such bad television presuming it's not just some wider scale issue with 2020s TV for instance.
#The4400 TV 5.10 cont'd.
So much is dull in this show.
Keisha preaches about being gay to Isaiah. Had the ep been written in 1992 from where Isaiah hails I'd say it was relevant but for 2022 it's lame.
Two bits I liked:
Soraya plays Jessica.
Mildred works out Claudette wasn't in barkeeping school.
#The4400 TV ep #5.10 "Give Up the Ghost" (24-Jan-22).
So forgettable (regrettable?) I forgot I was watching it as it was playing!
Not again FFS! The flashback is for a non-440! No not how the 4400 works! It's for Jharrel and they ruin the Manny mystery. Manny has a different ethnicity to Jharrel!
#The4400 TV 5.09 cont'd.
Claudette and LaDonna being nowhere to be seen for two eps is poor show running.
Not killing Bill Greene is equally pointless. Like just put Jessica as the main antagonist. But no as Bill survives so we had a scene in a fuc*ing hospital ward to sit through.
#The4400 TV 5.09 cont'd.
Soraya's betrayal only works dramatically if she's actually tw0o timing Jessica Tanner.
The technical explanation for what the Cobol code does is too mundane to be of any merit. What a waste.
I did like them reshowing last week's finale several times with different people.
#The4400 TV 5.09 cont'd.
I could accept that the 4400 can escape the hotel via the speakeasy if it had been set up that they were using some 4400's powers somehow to remain invisible but it makes zero sense that the hotel still has this exit point that they can use whenever they wat.
#The4400 TV 5.09 cont'd.
The security guards are back as seemingly they still want to use Steve. Please God is nobody making this show watching the rushes. Those security are pointless and so dull on screen. Why would you want to give them screen time?
There is no clear vision at work in this show.
#The4400 TV ep #5.09 "Great Expectations" (17-Jan-22).
This is a series with a lot of problems.
Too big a cast, zero visuals used in storytelling, too much plot being explained, the powers aren't interesting or driving the show, woolly messaging mixed in haphazardly.
Ok Keisha's ex is back. Sigh.
#The4400 TV 5.08 cont'd.
What I liked about OG The 4400 is it had rules it always kept
1- every ep we see a new power
2- only 4400s get flashbacks
I can see the new show getting lost in the weeds of its sprawling cast as it doesn't have a format. Each ep feels like it is inventing a new series.
