A medium large short legged bird with long neck stretched (heron like)and a beautiful pattern of dark brown horizontal dashes over the entire body with yellow brown underneath. The bare throat can not be seen at this angle on this juvenile Bare-throated Tiger Heron. Wanted to see Tiger Herons in South and Central America after seeing a pic and caught this one on the boat in the waterways around Parque Nacional Tortuguero in Costa Rica which abuts up to the Gulf of Mexico.
