Dear Fatima, Thank you for your email and sharing your concerns about the Tiny Tiny Homes in St James Park. People across Toronto deserve to be safe, warm and appropriately housed. In June, Mayor Chow and City Council voted to direct City staff to explore options for rapid shelter programs, including micro-shelters on vacant or under-used City land (see here) Since hearing about the legal notice issued in St James Park, our office has been in touch with Toronto Shelter & Support Services staff and can confirm that no immediate action is taking place, We have also been in touch with Tiny Tiny Homes and hope to convene a meeting to continue to build on their previous conversations with City staff to find a resolution that works for everyone. Councillor Alejandra Bravo, who chairs the Economic and Community Development Committee has posted this statement about the ongoing work to look at any and every option to help folks find housing options that bring them safely indoors.
