Belated Top Shelf Friday time, what's a comic in your collection that you love? ❤️
This week, Grendel #1 (1983)
Alas I came to Grendel too late to find this contemporarily. This was a late 90’s eBay bidding battle win.

When I forwt started reading this was just an alternate timeline future and guest spots.
No one could have predicted what that concept would grow to over time for the #GuardianoftheGalaxy
My copy is well loved and read and that is how i like it

My #TopShelfFriday pick is Captain America annual #8. This cover is so freaking dynamic! I just received this issue as a gift from a special lady in my life! She knows what i like!
Every now and then I have to give The Thanos Quest a #TopShelfFriday mention. Two books that show off how amazing the medium can be. They can be a little difficult to come by but the solid writing and gorgeous art make it worthwhile.
Also the first #comic I remember reading.
Which meant that the final Manhunter chapter was one of the first things I ever saw in a comic. Strangely, I wasn't all that confused. (I didn't see the rest of it till the 80s reprint)
Started my habit of beginning often w/the end of things.

My #TopShelfFriday pick this week is Helsing: The Darkness and the Light.

Don’t have a raccoon. How about a wolf? Marvel Spotlight #3 on Werewolf by Night. His 2nd appearance. Bought at Bleecker St. comics in the ‘90s. I got several issues, but no #2, sadly.

Archie Comics #5 by Harry Sahle. First Halloween cover. Archie, a red headed teen, rides a broom with a jack-o-lantern on the front against a field of stars and Planets. He is wearing a pointed Witch's hat with skull and crossbones on it in addition to his "R" Riverdale sweater, white shirt, blue polka dot bow tie, blue pants and white & black shoes. In a curve behind him, in the wake of the broom is the word "Halloween ". There are three large stars with characters in them. The lower left is Veronica, a black haired teen wearing a pearl necklace, the lower right is Betty a blonde teen also wearing pearls. Upper right is Jughead Jones, a teen with a large nose, closed eyes and wearing a whoopee cap - a man's felt fedora hat with the brim trimmed with a scalloped cut and turned up - with multiple badges on it.
Was going to hold this until closer to Halloween but this is close, right?
