An enchanting antique French transferware plate dating from the Victorian era. It has been decorated with a scene depicting a grandmother receiving a birthday gift from her grandchildren. The small wall plate has been manufactured from ironstone ceramic with a classic black transferware design on the glazed white surface. The illustration has been hand colored in soft pastel shades. The border of the plate features an ornate gothic design with rose and bird motifs. The plate was originally part of a series and has been numbered "10" at the center top. It features a title in French "La fête de la bonne Maman" (Grandmother's birthday). The underside has been stamped with the French maker's mark.
