Solitary Sandpiper - a small pointy billed bird wading in water with white-speckled brown plumage, a white belly, and a ring around the eye.
Lesser Yellowlegs - A tall bird with yellow legs wading in water, and a straight pointed bill about twice the length of the head. Plumage is brown or grey speckled with white. There is a white ring around the bird's eye.
Greater Yellowlegs - A tall bird wading in water with a thin upturned bill about two and a half times the length of the head. Plumage a salt and pepper combination of grey and white with brown spots added on the wings. Legs are yellow and there is a pale ring around the eye.
Three shorebirds from the weekend - Solitary Sandpiper, as well as Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs. This is a lovely trifecta of beautiful brown shorebirds with eyerings. It was delightful to see all three at the same time as they were revelling in a flooded field. #birds #birding #shorebirds #tringa
