Didn't get to ask my question! But that's a wrap on #TSRConf. Really enjoyed attending this year and live skeeting. Thanks to @stanfordcyber.bsky.social. Y'all killed it!!!
I've been looking forward to this panel on AI companions with @meetalijain.bsky.social all day. This one is going to be spicy 🔥 #TSRConf
Lunch over! Now I'm attending a set of lightning talks on "AI and Algorithm Auditing" - starting with Rafal Kocielnik's talk on democratizing AI auditing #TSRConf
@leticiabode.bsky.social answering an audience question #TSRConf
Complicated live skeeting logistics! I'm in the "Understanding Online Environments" lightning talks, where KGI's @alissacooper.bsky.social will be presenting, and then I'm scurrying over to the workshop a workshop led by my colleague @leticiabode.bsky.social on publicly available data #TSRConf
Very informative talks about a terrible scourge affecting children online! Gives me hope we have people shining a light on these harms #TSRConf
Next up at #TSRConf! Research presentations on online harms. Missed the first couple of presentations (lost track of time having great conversations!) But now we're back in action
Come hang out with us and talk about data access! #tsrconf
Also at 11:30am PT, @leticiabode.bsky.social cohosts a workshop w/ @naomishiffman.bsky.social, @angieholan.bsky.social & @whiskeyocelot.bsky.social “Let’s Share: A Framework for Researcher Access to Publicly Available Platform Data” to preview our new framework! Be sure to join + say hello #TSRConf
We're speaking at two #TSRConf sessions today at 11:30am PT. @alissacooper.bsky.social's “Fixing the Feeds: A Policy Road Map to Address Algorithmic Recommender System Harms” will provide insights on how algorithms can be better designed to put user well-being and long term user value first.
Grant analogizes social media bans to putting fences around the pool, which Australia has mandated for decades. Social media bans are like putting a fence around the ocean, which is impossible. Instead you teach children to swim safely. She says that's how online safety should be #TSRConf.
Day 2 at #TSRConf! @stanfordcyber.bsky.social's Jeffrey Hancock is interviewing Australia eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, a true rock star of online safety ⭐ I'll try to cover this conversation as I eat breakfast
Wonderful day 1 at #TSRConf. Fascinating and needed discussions of AI and content moderation, risks to youth, and new tools for trust and safety. Always really nice running into familiar faces as well.
Next up Youth Risks 2! (Turns out it's not tomorrow as I previously reported.) #TSRConf
Come check out my talk tomorrow and learn about the impact of age verification laws on user search behavior
