This picture was taken on Moraga Avenue in Piedmont of a tulip tree, which is just slightly taller than the single peak, grey single story house that is in the left side of the photograph. The tulip tree is covered in dark pink blooms. It hasn’t started dropping petals yet, so the sidewalk is clear below.

On Atlas in Oakland, this tulip tree is slightly taller than the house and it is very mature and big. Lots of blossoms and not really dropping pedals yet as it’s quite early in the bloom.

Two tulip trees that have grown together at the base of their trunks shoot tall and straight to the top of the forest canopy. They are glowing orange-brown in the sunlight are are surrounded by trees whose leaves are also glowing orange-brown. All are set off by a very blue sky.

The same two trees seen straight on so that only the lower part of their trunks are visible. It is about a month later and the trees around them are mostly bare and there is a dusting of snow on the ground.
