It IS the #tychocrater.

If that is the #tychocrater, the detail is #superfine?

A close up monochrome photo of our Moon. Only roughly half the Moon is in this frame because I was interested by one prominent crater called "Tycho" (Named for a famous historical Danish astronomer, Tycho Brahe from the 16th century).
His crater is not the largest in this image. It sits just a little to the right of center, and has very extensive light toned rays of ejected material from the initial impact creation of it. A bright central peak can be seen dead center of the crater. The entire image encompasses a broad area of the Southern part of the Moon.
To the left of Tycho are several large dark circular areas known as "Mare", or "Seas". They are ancient impact basins filled with ancient solidified lava flows.
Across the entire surface of the Moon in the image, there are impact craters visible, some overlapping others. Some quite large, others very small.
The lower part of the image shows some of that part of the Moon in shadow, with leading edges of craters highlighted, and contrasting with portions of their crater walls casting dark shadows into the craters, and the opposite crater edges sunlit, and the trailing edges casting shadows. Some craters have central peaks, and others do not. The background sky is black from strong contrast with the lunar surface.

So very glad I knew that when I was taking planetary and lunar images years ago that video was valuable for processing!
Now I have the knowledge and tools to mine these previous 'gems'!

i'm rereading the 2001 space odyssey series right now and seeing the moon so big and bright on my way home last night had me inspired to get a good view of the tycho crater for myself ๐ŸŒ–

A high-resolution image of the Moon showing the silhouette of the International Space Station (ISS) transiting in front of it. The ISS appears as a tiny, dark, sharply outlined shape with visible solar panels and structural elements, frozen mid-transit. The Moon is partially lit in a gibbous phase, showing detailed surface features including the bright crater Tycho in the lower left, along with rough highland terrain and darker maria regions.

Detailed telescopic view of the Moon's southern highlands, showcasing the rugged terrain and numerous craters, including prominent Tycho and Clavius craters. The image captures the lunar terminator, with long shadows highlighting the crater's features. Mountains along the limb reach up to 6 kilometers. Captured from Southern California during the Moon's third quarter phase.

Infrared image of the Moon during a total lunar eclipse, captured by the MSX satellite's SPIRIT III telescope. Bright spots indicate warmer areas, like the Tycho crater (bottom left), while darker regions represent cooler areas, such as the Mare Crisium (upper right). This image shows the lunar surface in infrared light, which is invisible to the human eye.
