Artwork of a coconut crab, which was drawn in a tan-toned "Rite-in-Rain" field book. The crab faces away from the viewer to show off the shell-less exoskeleton of this species; it is a large terrestrial crab that eventually grows to a size where a shell isn't needed (and a big enough shell is probably hard to find for these guys...) The art is done with red ballpoint pen, and blue ink was used for light stripey patterns on the crab's legs. The background features loose contoured hatching of varying lengths done in blue Sharpie.

The art is done with turquoise, blue, and purple ballpoint pens, with light-blue + light-purple high-lighters to shade in light shadows, and done on white cardstock. Side note: By "non-specific species" I just mean that the crab featured in this art is more of a combination of the two species that I encountered on the island, which were the Indonesian crab (Coenobita brevimanus) and the hairy land hermit crab (Coenobita spinosus).
