Thank you. I think I got myself confused because i was depending on confirmation of a physical release during #UncoolTwo50 … but that was obviously before digital releases were a thing!

These things are relative - this time last year I was dealing with a heavily oversubscribed #LetsDoIt25 just a week after signing off on #UncoolTwo50...

I saluted Saxon in my #UncoolTwo50. Now the "modern" band Amon still isn't ISC & without Martin Lopez its not NK either. So ❌

On 1st October 2022, Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' took the lead in #Uncool50, and never relinquished it.

She won by 59 points.
She remained undefeated in People's Pop Polls.
She defended her title in #UncoolTwo50.

But, earlier this year, something strange happened...

There will be some boiled piss at the 5-10 songs that fall immediately before 'Slide Away'. That I can 100% guarantee.

(as an aside, it's slightly perplexing when they missed the #UncoolTwo50 completely... I really don't think there's that big a differential between peak singles/non-singles)

I can only repeat what I said in #UncoolTwo50: X-Ray Spex are the best punk band and 'Germfree Adolescents' is the best punk album. Punk music with saxophone: perfect combination.

Michael Jackson, yes. Madonna...I would have heard *of* "Like a Virgin" and "Material Girl" but I don't think I could have hummed them. My personal experience is that I have never really heard Madonna's songs in the wild. Hand to God, I never once heard "Like a Prayer" until #UncoolTwo50.

Perhaps I slept on the album of the '90s because I'd already picked No Good for #UncoolTwo50.

But now I've slept in, let's be having it.

#16 ELO - Yours Truly, 2095 (1981)

In some respects this is righting the historic wrong that I couldn't fit Twilight into my #UnCoolTwo50 list. It is a bit rich to pick a song off an album that had five singles (one a double-A side!) but I adore this album in total.

No surprise, really - my #UncoolTwo50 list had 22 songs from the first half of the 90s, and all of six from the second half.

I can also trace it fairly easily to personal circumstances at the time, as I was a) skint and b) in a bit of a dead end / in-between phase as a music listener

This is as close as I'll get to using the carve outs in the rules; for my fellow pedants, yes, it was the lead track on the EP released to promote the 21st anniversary edition of the Innocents, but including it in #fearofmu21c would be mischievous and it wouldn't have been eligible for #uncooltwo50

Gotta be honest I don't think any song has ever benefited from having radio announcer chatter interspersed throughout it. The same probably cost "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" a spot in my #UncoolTwo50. Sorry P-Funk

Considering doing Arron's #TheTwen2ie5 challenge, but fear there'll be more songs that sound like 90s indie than were in my #UncoolTwo50 list.

These did in fact make into my #UncoolTwo50 list, with "Transmission". This would have given it a run for its money - it's the perfect(?) Joy Division track, a showcase for everything that made them great.

I discovered that my No. 1 was released as part of a single-artist EP. Yipes! BUT, the EP had 7 tracks and got nominated for a Grammy up against other full-length albums and nobody mentioned it during #UncoolTwo50, so I *think* I'm OK.

Sonic Youth's tribute to Karen Carpenter. This was going to be my third-to-last pick for #UncoolTwo50, mirroring my Carpenters pick at position three, up until I found that it was never released as a single. Oops.
