Y’all enjoy your papers. I’ll be getting these from my students. #unessays

I practice #ungrading and often use #UnEssays. This semester one of my classes wrote a book based on the research they conducted. I'll be writing about it soon. They worked hard, learned a lot, and relaxed.
When realized that if I didn't want to read the work, the students probably didn't want to do it, I got rid of all the #schoolish assignments. #UnEssays for the win!
This is a great intro to #unessays, especially if you are teaching history. Check out especially the interviews with @cjdenial.bsky.social & @jackiantonovich.bsky.social!

You #skystorians 🗃 know that I'm a big fan of the #unessay. But did you know that I'm co-facilitating a #OAH24 teaching workshop about #unessays? Friday @ 3:30 @jackiantonovich.bsky.social @rebawissner.bsky.social #oah24
We talked abt #learning, #unschooling, #grades in my class yesterday. After a semester with #ungrading & #unessays, w lots of student-led activities, the contrasts w their other classes is stark. One talked abt how in business classes all they do is “grind through” for the grade.

My first student creative projects (#unessays) from my premodern Japanese history class are trickling in and they're amazing. 😍 I'll post about each (with permission) as they come in on this thread! ⬇️🗾
Some great examples here of #unessays in the US history classroom
