Christmas Eve Service: I Heard the Bells on Christmas Eve
December 24th 2025, 5:00pm
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote this poem, later set to music, amidst the division and devastation of the Civil War when the country was divided. In the end, he found hope despite the chaos surrounding him. What can we learn using the metaphors of bells, which are a frequent symbol of the holiday season, through song, poems.and reflections?

Come Know with Me: Lessons from Mushrooms and Mothers
Worship Leader: Mich González
Worship Associate: Tucker Barker

When your rage is fit to choke you, find your Laughter. When your heart is breaking, find your Gratitude. And when your Spirit is weary, find your Empathy. And if you’re not sure where to find it, or have been confused by all the messages that conflate it with weakness, believe me when I tell you that it is actually our greatest strength and most accessible medicine. Empathy is what sprouts from the seed of Knowledge, which blooms into Love and fruits into the acts of nurturing upon which all that is good and beautiful turns. Knowledge is awareness of realities born of experience. It is not conjecture or opinion, but understanding from the conscious perception of Truth. And to nurture any sentient life is to help them grow—not as we see fit—but as their inherent Truth demands and yearns to grow. We were born to learn and know the deepest Truths of ourselves and one another—to help each other grow and to flower into our fullest selves—to reach the highest levels of enlightenment that we can through Love, before our time is up. There can be no Love without Empathy, and there can be no Empathy without Knowing. Come Know with me.
