That's all the tomato seedlings potted on.🤞we actually get some tomatoes this year. 🍅 Last year was a bit of a disaster.

I've been clearing my veg beds of weeds and moving compost all week, and every evening a little robin friend has appeared for his tea.🙂

Have caved and bought a pressure canner. Have been debating it for a while but had talked myself out of it as I had already bought a massive chest freezer to store garden produce in. But given events at the moment, I'd like to have a back up.

I've also got to move my compost into the second bay, as it's completely full, and dig out as much of the Lesser Celandine as I can as it's swamping my boarders. It's all go!🚦

Landscape orientation photo of a crown prince squash cut in half on a white plastic cutting board on a worktop. The squash fresh is a bright orange and the seeds can been seen in the middle. One half, with the stalk still attached, takes up the right two thirds of the image. The second sits a little behind it on the left. There is a tiled background, with various kitchen items behind the squash on the right.

Landscape orientation photo of a tray of baked oaty, seed, and berrys, cir into square pieces. The tray is lined with parchment paper. The image is taken from above and from a corner angle.
Crown Prince squash harvested last September still going strong, but not much time left before they start to turn. So roasted a couple to put in the freezer, plus used a couple of cups to make some oaty berry breakfast bars, with last years summer fruit.

A peaceful large pond on a calm day, framed by dense green and autumn-coloured trees with their reflections visible in the still water.
The big pond at the allotments really is looking autumnal now! 😍 My first visit in a couple of weeks, I guess. Must get back to it! Planting garlic is at the top of my list 🧄 #Allotments #AllotmentGardening #VegGardening #Gardening #Kent #England
Three sweetcorn 'Incredible F1' cobs in the middle of being unwrapped 😁
How they looked prior to cooking 😶
My less-than-impressive first crop of sweetcorn from the allotment 🙂 Only just over half the cob fertilised, but I'm not too surprised as only six plants made it past the slugs to flowering. Somewhat anaemic looking too, but they tasted okay👍 #Sweetcorn | #Allotments #VegGardening | #Kent #England
Anyone knows what this is? The seed packet said butternut squash? The App says it's butternut squash, I am having my doubts!

Dave (One of the allotment holders who I've been helping out this season) allowed me the pleasure of digging up the two surviving potato plants he sowed late this spring. I wasn't sure that planting them shallow, and mulching with chipped bark, would prove very successful 🙂, but I was pleasantly surprised for him. Apart from the ones that grew too near the surface and went partially green (Bottom pile. Still mostly usable if he cuts away the affected bits, I think) the rest (Top pile) made a decent enough crop, I thought 👍
I forgot to add the spuds to the take-home pic 🙄🙂 which shows pretty much the last of this year's harvest, I reckon (Apart, that is, from the sweetcorn which I hope to pick sometime this coming week 🤞🌽 Nb. Take a close look at the odd shaped tom! 😁
Well, that's half an hour of my life I can't get back! I decided to add googly eyes to the two spuds I placed as 'eyes' above that strangely shaped tomato 🥔👀🍅😁
The large pond at the allotments doesn't look half as nice on a cloudy day 🙂 The water also looked worryingly murky, and there were no signs of the fish 😞
Some pics from my visit to the allotment on Saturday. I thought one of the 'Marmande' beefsteak tomatoes looked like it was sporting a toothbrush moustache, so had some fun with it 😁 #AllotmentGardening #Allotments #VegGardening #Gardening | #Kent #England
A photo (taken yesterday) of a small wood-edged vegetable bed containing a small crop of small-sized sweetcorn plants nearing harvesting time. They look healthy enough though 🤞🙂
A close up of the sweetcorn showing how their 'silks' are beginning to brown and dry out.
It shan't be long now before I try harvesting our modest crop of sweetcorn. I count four plants making it to fruiting. I'm too tired now to look back and see how many I planted, but it was more than this, I'm sure 😊 #Sweetcorn #AllotmentGardening #VegGardening #Allotments | #Kent #England

A selection of home-grown veg on the top of a galvanized metal storage box, with a fancy pair of secateurs (my neighbour's) for size comparison.
The 'patty pan' squash prior to harvesting. I sowed them indoors on the 19th April.
How the runner beans looked before picking. It was over a week since I visited the allotment, and there were plenty needing harvesting from the half a dozen, or so, plants 🙂
The sweetcorn are flowering! Somewhat less than impressive in size, I'm still hoping for a half dozen to reach maturity 🤞 The cucurbits are looking very tired now, but they've given a fair crop, so no complaints from me! 👍😁
Today's take-home from the allotment: One patty-pan squash, one over-sized gherkin/cucumber, and LOTS of runners! 😅 #AllotmentGardening #VegGardening #Allotments #Gardening #GrowYourOwn | #Kent #England
The one radish that I harvested today 🙂 It's an Italian heirloom variety called 'Candle of Fire' in English, so the long, tapering shape is right. It's pictured alongside a hand trowel, and is roughly the same size. It has a satisfying deep red colour. It was very hot to the taste, so it lived up to its name! 🕯️🔥
How it looked before harvesting. I suspect now that they are all meant to reach this size, so I'm not expecting much from the remaining ones! 😂
One of the few surviving 'Candela Di Fuoco' radishes that I sowed on the 14/06/25, put on a growth spurt with all the rain we've had over the last few days, so I decided it was time for harvesting. #Radishes #AllotmentGardening #Allotments #VegGardening #Gardening #Homegrown #Kent #England
I've been digging up the tatties today in the garden. Should make a few chips! #potato #veggardening

The end of a small wood-edged bed (I think the planner was thinking of raised beds, but didn't get around to adding topsoil 🙂) with a row of red onions (doing well, I think), next to one of radishes (not doing so well) 🙂
Ho ve, someones's chomped on the furthermost radishes (The 'Candela di fuoco' I sowed on the 14th of last). It looks like I'm down to four! 😅 #Radishes #AllotmentGardening #VegGardening #Gardening #Allotments #Kent #England
First crop of runner beans from seeds saved from last year. They're about a secateur's length long 🙂
One of the two gherkins I picked today. At around 6 cm long, it's about the right length, I reckon. The other was twice its size and misshaped (very not photogenic!) 😁
The 'Marmande' beefsteak tomatoes that I sowed on the 2nd of April. Looking promising, I think! 👍
My friend's cordless brush cutter made easy work of the grass paths! Unfortunately, in my eagerness to get going, I forgot to take a 'before' photo 🙄🙂
Some pics I took down at my friends' allotment yesterday evening (I'm lending them a helping hand this year). First harvests! #AllotmentGardening #Allotments #VegGardening #Gardening #Kent #England
Square close up photo of a small 'Victoria' plum, sitting on a piece of patterned kitchen paper. The plum is a reddy brown with patches of yellowy green with tiny red speckles.
I HAVE A PLUM! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! 🍑 #VegGardening ##HomeGrown
A close-up of young sweetcorn plants (about a foot high) growing amongst courgettes and gherkins.
I was glad to see yesterday that the few remaining sweetcorn are holding their own against the cucurbits 👍🌽 #AllotmentGardening #VegetableGardening #VegGardening #Gardening #Allotments #Kent #England

The snow peas on the new trellises had their first blooms today. Yesterday I planted our tomato, cucumber and custard squash seedlings with fennel and oregano companions. I’ll wait till June to set put basil, eggplant, and beans.

I'm sure 4 kale 'Scarlet' plants should be plenty for my friends allotment 😅 Only 4 out of 36 sown came up, but I think it was an old packet, so it's better than naught! Here's how they looked after pricking out into pots yesterday #VegGardening #GardeningUK #UKGardening #Gardening
5 small pots of runner beans fast needing to be potted on, sitting in an old decorative plant house (missing its glass) atop a stone-topped garden table.
The unnamed runners that I sowed on the 7th March (easily a month too early) are doing well. I ran out of compost yesterday, so wasn't able to pot them on as hoped. They'll be enormous before I'm able to give them to my friends to plant out! 🙄😁 #VegGardening #GardeningUK #UKGardening #Gardening
3 small pots sown with out-of-date and previously opened zucchino 'Custard white' seeds. 2 per pot 🤞😬

20 aubergine seedlings in a small seed tray with a wooden label which says their name, and the date I sowed them (05/03/25)
The same 20 seedlings pricked out into assorted small pots, now with an unreadable label due to compost smudge 🙄🙂

12 'Marmande' tomato seedlings in a small seed tray. The label says I sowed them on the 02/04/25.
The same 12 seedlings pricked out into 10 small square pots and 2 'rounds'.

A large seed tray with 12 individually potted seedlings. 6 'Gardener's Delight' tomatoes and 6 'Romaine Ballon' lettuces. I've named the littlest one 'Tiny Tim' 😁
Yesterday I took down the first tray of seedlings to my friend's house for him to put in his outdoor (hopefully frost free) grow house. The lettuces should be fine, but I'm a little worried for the toms. Lots more to come though! 🤞 #AllotmentGardening #VegGardening #GardeningUK #Gardening
