Orion pursed his lips, watching Theo curl up happily in Krile's lap as she continued to fuss over him.

"He's persistent, sounds like. I've heard of it happening, very rarely. A friend of mine, Tataru, had a similar situation. Only, her carbuncle was out of her control entirely and ran off, but it persisted," Krile chuckled, looking down at the snoozing companion. "I suppose it could be worse. If it were Ifrit-Egi, you'd have a real problem on your hands" Orion mock-shuddered, rolling his eyes as he tried to fight a grin, unable to deny a certain amount of affection for his little friend. "Fair. And for all that he's a handful, he makes up for it by being rather insufferably cute. Not like he eats all that much." "We'll not worry about it, then. At least, until he starts plotting world domination? Then, perhaps, you should call me." She ruffled the little red tuft of gem on Theo's forehead, and the carbuncle purred.

At The Next Cup, an old fashioned hole-in-the-wall run by an old woman named Agnes, business has been booming lately--and most regulars credit the change to Frea. Don’t let Frea’s soft demeanor fool you. The liquor she brews packs a legendary punch; if you can survive the initial fire in your throat, you’ll likely never settle for another tavern's swill again. While she appears to be the only staff member on duty, she is rarely overwhelmed. Her geokinetic abilities allow her to mold temporary, living clay dolls to handle the more mundane chores. These helpers take care of everything from hauling heavy crates of grain to serving patrons and keeping the bar scrubbed clean. The air around the tavern is constantly thick with the rich aroma of fermenting mash. Whether she’s perfecting a spiced O’Ghomorran Mead, a basic Apple Brew, or a smooth Mun-Tuy brew, Frea’s unique spins on classic recipes have turned the Next Cup into a destination. People from all walks of life now find themselves drifting toward that little wooden sign with the promise of a drink they won't soon forget.

Dolls are a child’s constant companion, no matter their status. During her daily commute through Ul'dah, Frea often saw the local girls playing in the shade. Two of them had expensive dolls with fine hair and painted faces, but the third girl held a simple doll made of sun-baked clay. One afternoon, Frea overheard the others teasing her, saying she couldn’t join their "grand soiree" because her doll didn't have a dress. They swept off, leaving the girl to play by herself. Frea approached and asked to see the doll. It wasn't "pretty" by most standards—it had mismatched eyes, two left hands, and a head that was far too large—but Frea could tell it was deeply loved. "You know," Frea blurted out, "I can make a dress for the ball. I’m something of a weaver!" She wasn't sure why she lied, but the girl’s face lit up. The girl shyly warned she had no coin to pay, but Frea just waved it away. For the next eight days, Frea obsessed over the project. She meticulously scrubbed the grime from the clay, stitched together scraps of silk with a needle that felt too small for her hands, and carefully painted a tiny smile onto the doll's face. When she finally returned the doll, the girl silently stared at it for a long time. Frea panicked, worried she’d changed too much. Then, the girl gave her a massive grin. "She looks just like me!" the girl cried, hugging the doll before running off to show her parents. Frea felt a strange warmth in her chest. She wasn't sure why she'd spent over a week fixing up a "crusty" old doll, but seeing that joy made it worth it. Suddenly, a voice like shifting stone resonated in her mind: "The beauty of this world is forged in the kiln of mortal hands. There is strength in the way your people tend to the broken and the unformed, scouring the grit until the spirit within begins to shine. You have the heart of one. Will you show the rest what I have always seen?" The world seemed a lot brighter since that day.
