Sunflowers in bloom remind me of the year I let Maximillian Sunflowers grow in my backyard. A huge impregnable stand grew from bird and wind scattered seed. The stalks that remained were a force unto themselves, even resisting machete blows. Took three days. #gardening #sunflowers #volunteerplants
