He's using the "relaxed" pose from the photo mode but it's designed to look contemplative in this image. The ship's door is open, showing a very orange desert environment outside. There are some technology hologram effects around. The door as well. The image is symmetrical in that the internal ship design itself and the framing of the image make it symmetrical. Sam isn't, but the image would be less interesting without the pose. Image is very high contrast. Black and orange. The main lighting and colour comes from outside of the door. The "Mars" filter was used in the image.
