The base of the museum collection was artifacts & commercial products brought by world wide exhibitors in 1893 Columbian Exposition. So Panama hats, a ukulele, etc.
Family & I did science volunteering at Field Museum: 4 the world-wide #WeDigBio effort, sorting plant "specimen sheets" w/ photos, notes, and occasional actual specimens. That included a your of the specimen collections then free museum time. #allstartrek
