Pic from inside Thrihnukagigur Volcano looking up at the lift cage from which we were lowered - the guide said it was a German skyscraper window washer's cage. The "walls" inside are rock of brown rust yellow silver. http://www.insidethevolcano.com/ Enter Þríhnúkagígur volcano and descend into the only accessible lava chamber on planet Earth. Hiked 2 miles to get to the volcano, it takes about 7 minutes to descend. To be able to experience this wonder, all you need is the willingness to do a moderate 45–50 minute hike and the guts to descend 120 meters / 400 feet into the volcano in an open cable lift. The hike to the volcano is an integral part of the tour, not only because of the breathtaking scenery, but also because it’s one of only two ways of getting to the base of the volcano. The other option is with a helicopter.

A Room With A View? Monochrome. A barred arched window reveals a landscape of fields and trees, the grey stripe of the suburbs on the horizon and a rather grey sky. The grey is an appropriate colour, for this used to be the land of the Greys of Groby, the most famous Lady Jane, Queen of England for nine days, and perhaps Thomas Grey, one of the regicides.
