Great Blue Heron, pretty much shot in silhouette, due to lack of camera skills in settings management. The black and white of the image turned out well I thought. Setting sun lighting the water behind the large wader.

Alligator floating in swampy water. Just slightly off-straigt, nose-on to camera. Nice reflection of chin in the water just in front of the gator head. Ridges of back and tail seen in background, just barely at water surface. Bits of swamp plants are on the snout and eyebrow area of the gator head. Looks a lot like my old cat did while waiting for snacks.

Feeling artsy this week, got some good shots on a recent walkabout.

a male Anna's hummingbird perched on a snowy branch during a snowfall. it has an iridescent green back and grayish-white underparts with green flanks and features a distinctive dark, rose-colored crown and throat (gorget). the background is a soft blur of white snow and muted green foliage.

This cute little male Anna's hummingbird (Calypte anna) didn’t mind the snow we had in Grants Pass. They are the only hummingbirds that stay in Oregon year-round.
