According to a 2021 review of 13,268 #WhiteTerror dossiers by the #Taiwan Transitional Justice Database, 96.27% of the victims were male and 3.73% female.

55% were benshengren, i.e. from Taiwanese families predating the KMT's arrival, compared to 45% waishengren, i.e. those who fled China in 1949.

The number of civilians in Taiwan who were repressed or killed by the KMT during a 4-decade period of authoritarian rule known as #WhiteTerror is estimated to be as high as 200,000. Many victims have their criminal records expunged — Chang was exonerated in 2018 and Oyang's name was cleared in 2019.
