Augury is a major divination technique within the Widderkingdom. Birds are seen as divine messengers & foreseers of fate, tied directly with The Triad. Not only can birds guide the course of a kingdom, they also portend omens. Divination serves private interests along with public & political ones. Many business decisions rely exclusively on Augury first. Airshin are considered the most powerful specialists in Augury, and the most well-respected, providing divination to the royal houses. Most Shin own at least one bird, if not many, even if they themselves are not practiced in the art of Augury as it is seen as good luck to provide for birds and keep them close. Birds used in Augury: Doves & Pigeons - It is very commonplace to find doves & pigeons in Shin shouseholds. They are especially prized by royalty & Erosshin due to their gentle and affectionate natures. Their behavior, movements, sounds & emotional state are all interpreted as signs. Much like crows & ravens, their flock patterns and flight direction are also meaningful. Chickens & Roosters - Sacred chickens are bred specially for this purpose in a black color. The more perfectly dark black the bird, the better. When these sacred chickens eat hungrily it is read as the most favourable prophecy. Black hens lay black eggs, and these are used heavily in fertility rites combined with honey. Falcons & Vultures - Falcons & vultures are seen as being able to travel between the worlds of earthly life & the underworld. They are also considered to be wards against He Who Drains The Light. Signs involving a specific number of the flapping of their wings, or certain cries, or the way the vultures consume carrion or fly are all seen as signs. Crows & Ravens - The flight patterns of a group of crows or ravens are read to interpret signs. Their high intelligence is said to be why they can recieve direct messages from The Triad. These birds are so respected that some Shin consider them to be family or siblings.

The Triad generally refers to the three siblings: Chaos, Spirit and Eros. However, there are Widdershin directly decended from these three dieties who are gifted with unusual magical powers. They also have markers that distinguish them from elemental Shin, bearing sharp teeth and beautiful feathered wings. Triad Shin are almost always of noble birth. They are revered & respected in Shin society, as well as being somewhat feared - it is believed that to disrespect or offend these rare & powerful Shin types will directly upset the balance of the universe or cause He Who Drains The Light to resurface.

Order of the Black Star Entry into this cult is shrouded in mystery and reserved for those who demonstrate exceptional influence, intellect, or ambition. Its members are marked by branded tattoos. They don veils to obscure their faces, operating as unseen architects of Shin society. To join is to pledge oneself to an unknowable destiny, where success brings unparalleled power, and failure ensures eternal obscurity. Gilded Eclipse This cult’s methods are subtle, their reach extensive, and their ultimate goals known only to the innermost circle. Members undergo rigorous and esoteric training. They are skilled in the arts of persuasion & manipulation, employing celestial alignments & alchemical rites. Members are chosen for their potential: charisma tempered by cunning, strength veiled in grace. They are taught the art of influence, weaving truth and illusion to bend others to their will, while their rites and teachings bind them to the greater cosmic order. In the beginning of all things, the universe was nameless & held within the First Egg. Inside this egg was the First Material—the Prima Materia, first of all matter. From within this material was formed Nitrephane, who was unlike any other before them. Nitrephane broke from the egg and so filled the universe. Nitrephane created Protopetra and begat with them three sibling offspring: Chaos, Spirit and Eros. From the three siblings came the Anima Mundi: Chaos brought forth fire. Spirit brough forth earth. Eros joined with each sibling and brought forth air and water. These became the first Widdershins they who were given the Vis Vitalis and who carry the power of their progenitors & the First Egg with them always.

The main cities are listed, such as The Emberfast for Fireshin, Seat of the Evergreen for Earthshin, Nova Aeris for Airshin lands, and The City of One as the main kingdom. There's also Morshroud, the land of the dead, and The Blighted Lands, a grey, desolate burned looking place.

A weathered scroll that's open, showing numerous magic glowing orbs of different colors and styles. One of them is held inside a very elaborate looking jeweled egg. The text reads: Also known as hy by shin alchemists, colloquially termed cores by Shinfolk. These cores are the source & locus of a widdershin’s elemental power & are unique to each Shin, since they contain part of a Shin’s soul. They are immensely powerful concentrated magic, believed by many to be the very Prima Materia of the universe handed down to the Triad siblings Chaos, Spirit & Eros. Cores are carried & concealed in special, enchanted bejeweled eggs that hide their immense power from the entity only known as He Who Drains The Light or just He. The eggs can never be lost or stolen, as they magically rematerialize with their Shin within seconds. Tampering with a Shin’s egg is considered one of the greatest offenses in Widdershin culture.

When I wash my hair, I rub it in circles... widdershins. And left handed (I'm naturally right handed). I thought it would have been right handed and clockwise.
