Thale Cress on the Lion Arch Bridge over the Avonmore, just upstream of the Meeting of the Waters. This unassuming plant is incredibly important scientifically, and was the first plant to have its genome sequenced. More here: www.wildflowersofireland.net/plant_detail... #wildfowerhour #StoryPlants

Our rescue snowdrops from the M25J10 improvement scheme are doing OK, but I feel the more specialist ones we have acquired over time struggle to ever open in the wet weather has the often large petals get drenched and are then too heavy to lift up and just rot ☹️ #WildfowerHour

Jointed Rush, Juncus articulatus. New for our driveway. Given the amount of time I spend in wetland habitats the most likely vector for this surely has to be me. Got me wondering about how much botanists, inadvertently, influence plant distributions.

Hawthorns are so pretty!
Both male and female reproductive parts are contained within each flower. Flowers are highly scented, white or occasionally pink with five petals, and grow in flat-topped clusters.

Handsome Marsh Thistles guarding the edge of Market Weston Fen, peacock butterflies just loving that fresh, Hemp Agrimony. What a relief at last to find a place near us where it still squidges underfoot - even the pingos have a bit of standing water. #MarketWeston #WildFowerHour
