Beyond, the folded mountains of the western Cascades march into the mist covered distance until Mount Hood's cone pierces the sky. And behind and above that distinctive mountain, an orange band along the horizon fades from red-orange to yellow-orange. Above that, the thin clouds glow red and slowly, slowly fade to purple at the very top of the image.
