Year 1 explored watercolour inspired by Emma Burleigh’s videos. They mixed primary colours, then freely experimented with blocks & pans—building confidence, curiosity & creativity at each stage. #wpsart
They applied acrylic paint to the reverse of the transparency to create a monotype background. Once dry, they layered the cleaned transparency on top—combining colour & line in a striking mixed media composition. #wpsart
In their Making Monotypes pathway, Y5 built on their printmaking skills. Inspired by @helloroscreates & her vibrant Georgian doors, they traced a printed door image onto transparency with Sharpie to use as a printing block. #wpsart
For their final piece, Year 3 stretched their printed cloth onto embroidery hoops, then used colourful thread to add vibrant stitches—bringing texture, detail & creativity to their designs. A beautiful finish! #wpsart

Y1 children have been engaged with a variety of print methods this term. They made 'plates' by making impressions in plasticine, then moved on to sticking cut out foam shapes and string to a cardboard squares to print with. They ended the Pathway inspired by Paul Klee's Castle and Sun. #wpsart
Before Christmas Y5 had a creative experience exploring Typography and Maps. By engaging with the work of designers who focus on fonts and Typography the children were provided with a platform to experiment with design elements. #wpsart
Taking advantage of a dull, dreary afternoon Y3 explored 'Drawing by Torchlight' as part of the Pathway: Gesture Drawing with Charcoal. So much excitement! The children loved creating a still life drawing, creating moody, atmospheric scenes.
