Though you can't see her body for the shadow, you can see from the angle of her head that she is leaning over the top of the instrument and looking down the neck of it to her hand. Her head is in the top left corner of the frame, her hand is holding the neck of the double bass very closely to her head and just right of centre at the top of the frame. The eye travels from the hand at the top down the strings (following the light) and the profile of her face which is parallel to the neck, down to the hand plucking the strings, which is in the bottom right corner.

Even in dark times, listen for the music.

A photograph of a horse (head, shoulders and forelegs to just below the knee) that has been edited to look like a painting. The horse is a pale grey and its head is bowed and turned slightly towards the camera, so you can see the side and top of its head. The background is a wash of grey watercolour and marbling with a hint of yellow. There is a texture akin to art paper over the whole image.

One of my favourite art pieces from a couple of years ago (yes, it's a photograph 🙂).

A black and white portrait orientated image of a mature coniferous forest. The trees are tall and thick on both sides of the image but in the middle the floor is covered in thick bracken and fern. Sunlight is just managing to penetrate the canopy and is creating a vertical line of light in the centre of the image that follows down the line of trees and along the ferns to create a gentle pool of light in the centre of the frame, highlighting the central ferns.

It's grim out there. I hope wherever you are that there is a light for you to turn towards.
