I visited Cairo last October (as I was an invited speaker at the #wuf12 of #unhabitat), I urban-walked across Nasr City.
What i love is those urban voids, those fronts and boundaries challenged by time and people. Highways, fences, bridges.
Beauty in the decay.

10 of our amazing cohort of Asian cities (from 🇹🇭 🇮🇩 🇮🇳 🇨🇳 & 🇵🇭 ) presented their city-level project proposals to a panel of climate finance experts at the 🇺🇳’s 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo over the last week.

Thursday's talks at #WUF12 put ordinary people’s needs foremost
Participants considered how digitalization can put people first, the need for empathy in creating accessible #cities, and the ways wars and conflicts affect refugees even after resettlement
Participants at #WUF12 discussed the housing affordability crisis, and how cities can reduce carbon emissions
A full slate of artistic displays—street art, a drum circle, a mural in progress, and a fashion show with a difference—brought day 2 to life

Sustainable urban development was already a challenge when the New Urban Agenda was adopted in 2016.
#WUF12 high-level delegates noted even greater difficulties now.
Answers may lie in collaboration and co-creation of projects with local communities, attendees heard.
