A portrait of Cecilia Gentili in the center of a redesign of the 10 Dollar Bill. Cecilia Gentili was an advocate for sex workers, immigrants, and LGBTQ people (particularly trans people), who had been "Mother" to many. She founded Trans Equity Consulting, which supports the equitable representation of trans women of color, immigrants, sex workers and incarcerated people. She was also a director of policy at the Gay Men's Health Crises and was active with many organizations to end the HIV epidemic. As an immigrant from Argentina, immigrant rights were personal to her, as could be said for her advocacy for trans rights and sex workers rights. But she was also a published author and performer, having appeared on episodes of the tv show Pose as well as her own solo shows.
a redesign of the 10 Dollar Bill showing the front and back desigins, including Cecilia Gentili and Yang Song, along with depictions of the Statue of Liberty (the head on the front, and the feet and broken chains on the back), and a depiction of boats crossing water to carry immigrants to freedom. It also includes text from The New Colossus" poem, a sonnet by American poet Emma Lazarus . "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
"Some people believe that in respecting my rights, they will lose some of their own. But equality is an endless cake. The more who eat from it, the more there is to share" - Cecilia Gentili
