Also you can try an ECargobike from @bikebikeyyc.bsky.social an excellent way to test before you buy! We have purchased three ECargobikes from them and use them everyday for short trips instead of the car! #yycbike #yycwheeling #gobybike #Ebikesareenabling

The Calgary Plan has a Primary Wheeling Network map, which looks identical to the 5A Network map in the 2020 CTP.
I've never liked this approach to mapping wheeling in Calgary. It's not geared for those "medium" distances. Its a car-centric perspective.

Pg62 lists some Wheeling Policies. This is where the replacement of '5A' with 'Wheeling' is more apparent with the language "Primary Wheeling Network".
Wheeling is more descriptive than 5A, but does wheeling mean "all ages and abilities always available"?

Moving on to 3.4.3 Wheeling on p62...
City should define what they mean by "medium length trips". It's great to say wheeling should be the "preferred option" but how far is that?
Personally I think it should be 1 to 5 km.
That seems reasonable for wheeling.

Its good to see Wayfinding mentioned (aka direction signs)... but it's been mentioned lots before and really nothing has been done in any coordinated way for wheeling.
Is this just cheap talk? Or will something actually happen this time?

General policies are good as well.
Great to see Safe System Approach mentioned first.
This would be huge if true, but culturally a big shift from current approach where collisions are treated as "accidents" and very few design changes are made to make safer.

The opening is okay. Not sure if I buy most trips are more than one travel type. I’d like to see some evidence.
If this is to say that everyone has to walk at the end of every journey, sure that’s technically correct, but it’s disingenuous to use that as the reason.
