‘Too hungry to think, too weak to sit upright. Concentration slips away’: the struggle to stay focussed as an academic in Gaza
#Gaza: starving & exhausted, medical & humanitarian workers are fainting while on duty.
Our UNRWA staff are struggling to find food yet continue to work.
A ceasefire and a standard and at scale flow of aid under the coordination of the United Nations NOW!
—UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini

“Gaza is hell on earth. Our own staff are fainting on duty from hunger and exhaustion,” says UNRWA Juliette Touma to BBC.
During the ceasefire, 500–600 trucks a day entered #Gaza with aid from the UN, including UNRWA. That’s what prevented famine before.
That system must be restored.
We are receiving desperate messages of starvation from #Gaza, including from our colleagues.
Food prices have increased 40 fold.
UNRWA has enough food for the entire population for over three months, stockpiled just outside Gaza.
Lift the siege and let aid in safely and at scale.
From Nasser hospital in Gaza, Prof Nick Maynard (consultant surgeon at Oxford university hospital who has been travelling regularly to Gaza for 15 years): I’m witnessing the deliberate starvation of Gaza’s children – why is the world letting it happen?

It is absolutely heartbreaking.
It's difficult to understand how any of this can be allowed to happen. And absolutely, completely heartbreaking.
It’s difficult how understand how all of this can be allowed to happen, in full view of the world. And western governments condemn Israel while selling them the arms to do it
