A wild forget me not moth. It has black wings with 6 white dots per wing. It has orange on the underside of its thorax, black legs, black head, black proboscis and black comb-like antennae. It’s collecting nectar from a yellow flower amidst a blurred green background. Taken at the North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park on 4/18/2026
On the hike today, I caught a flask of black and white flying through the tree canopy and was curious what type of butterfly/moth it was. Luckily there were many more as the hike progressed. A wild forget me not moth. Zoom on the antennae, you won’t regret it. #moths

Narcissus in full bloom under the new red spring leaves of a Japanese Maple. The sky is impossibly blue today. I love New Jersey so much.
A Western Bluebird standing on a trail marker post a Crane Creek Regional Park near Rohnert Park. Taken on 4/12/2026
Western Bluebirds are so handsome! #birds
A black bird with reddish feathers near the top of its wings (hence the super original name of Red Winged Blackbirds) perched atop a post holding up orange fencing. The picture was taken mid-call, so the bird is fluffed up, feathers spread. Taken at Crane Creek Regional Park on 4/12/2026
Red Winged Blackbirds have such a distinctive call. I can almost hear it just by looking at this picture. #birds
A squirrel eating something, its eyes closed, like it’s savoring the flavor. The squirrel is standing on a downed tree. Taken at Crane Creek Regional Park near Rohnert Park on 4/12/2026

Comic art featuring Bizarro Superman and Bizarro Batman hanging out with Totally Normal Al Yankovic, a regular guy in a brown business suit.
I have no interest in reading a Kevin Smith-written Bizarro comic, but I have to admit being amused that their Weird Al Yankovic variant cover (which is apparently a thing this month) instead features "Totally Normal Al Yankovic"
It did end up raining about 30 minutes after that picture was taken. Foreshadowing, I guess
I don’t feel like the order matters, but I would recommend seeing the movie on the biggest screen possible.
For me, the book built anticipation for the movie, but was not necessary context. If you have time to read/listen to the book with the next 2 weeks, do that first, if not enjoy the movie ASAP
That’s some serious side-eye!
A vivid, partial rainbow on 4/8/2026
The ground is not wet and there isn’t rain in the forecast, and yet… #rainbow
The TIE Fighter galaxy. Probably far, far away
An orange sunset. A bird photobombed the picture just above the trees near the center of the picture. Taken on 4/7/2026
Good evening #sunset
It’s a shirt hike, maybe 1.5 miles to the falls and back. Probably much less than you’d get from the others you mentioned 😁
Unfortunately, the waterfall itself was a trickle compared to what I’ve seen before…
The trailhead to Buck Gulch Falls is at the end of Fairway Dr. in Novato. I’m not sure where Phoenix Lake is, but I don’t think it’s nearby…
Tinges of blue mixes with orange and white spots on a black Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly drinking from purple Springtime Vetch wildflowers on the trail to Buck Gulch Falls near Novato, CA. Taken on 4/5/2026
It didn’t want to show me its black and blue tops of its wings, but the underside of the mostly black Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly was pleasantly colorful! #Butterflies #BloomScrolling
A California Newt suspended in the slow moving water of Buck Gulch Creek. The orangish yellow of the newt’s underbelly is visible on its legs and feet and its eyes seem to be glowing. Taken on 4/5/26
A California Newt floating in slow moving water in Buck Gulch Creek. These guys usually hide in the shadows, so it was really funny to see it out in the sun. #PleaseSendNewts #herps #Newts
A Western Rattlesnake on the trail to Buck Gulch Falls near Novato, CA. The venom in rattlesnake bites can be deadly, so it’s advised to keep a respectful distance from them. Taken on 4/5/26
A Western Rattlesnake giving a blep on the trail to Buck Gulch Falls near Novato, CA. I was using a telephoto lens on this shot. Absolutely no way I was getting within striking range of this very dangerous danger noodle. Taken on 4/5/2026
Thankfully, we were warned that a rattlesnake was spotted on the trail a few minutes before we saw this bad boy, but rattlers are impressive even if you know they’re there. It did shake the rattle, but never snapped at us. #snakes #ExtremeDangerNoodle #blep #herps
Two Western Fence Lizards with bright blue necks and undersides and bright green backs fighting. The one on the right has the tail of the left lizard in its mouth. It was fascinating to watch. Taken on 4/5/2026
Two very brightly colored Western Fence Lizards (Bluebellies) fighting. One has the other’s tail in its mouth! Eventually they separated and puffed up their chests and did pushups at each other. It was hilarious and beautiful. #Lizards #Herps
