funny. Top tier romcom and an easy 9/10
actually progress while the show also has more slow burn romances with it's side characters that are both equally great. The characters also go through good development, whether it's becoming more confident or getting over middle school trauma. The dialogue is also entertaining and can be really
#PolarOpposites Finally got around to watching You and I are Polar Opposites. Fanfreakingtastic show. Gets the bullshit of will they won't do out of the way with it's main couple in it's first episode. This serves as a great core for the rest of the season as we get to see their relationship
in the final 2 episodes. Looking forward to checking out the later seasons.
#Invincible Finally got around to finishing Invincible Season 2. Less guided than it's initial season and with no real through line, it was hard to get invested as it was in season 1. But it makes up for that with how well it seems to be setting the plate for future seasons. And it really delivers
#Anime I watched a 'lot' of anime by my standards this season and posted my thoughts here if anyone is curious substack.com/home/post/p-...
#TomHanks Watched You've Got Mail with the wife and...that wasn't a very good love story. Joe Fox ruins a women's life and then proceeds to gaslight her and hide his identity as her online live. Acting was solid but the story was messed up. 5/10
gone through the worst thing imaginable and has to deal with all of the trauma from that while also growing up with a new parental figure who's not there to replace her mother. You add on all the extra characters who are equally complex and interesting and you get a wonderful drama. 10/10
orphaned niece that shows how difficult it can be to understand other people and how you don't always have to. Makio is a great character who has wonderful lines of wisdom while also still being completely clueless about other parts of life. And Asa is a wonderful realization of a teenager who's
#journalwithwitch Yeah, this an easy top 5 anime for me, maybe even top 2. The writing is some of the best I've come across in the medium and the relationship between the two leads is unlike most you'll see in any medium. A beautiful and complex parental relationship an estranged aunt and her now
#Fate #FateStrangeFake Fate/Strange Fake season 1 was a whole lot of moving parts that I'm still not sure whether they gelled together well or not. Had cool fights and great potential but the second season will decide what I think of the show. 7.5/10 for now.
season were also top tier.
#Frieren Frieren Season two was an enjoyable journey as we got more one off episodes that were a good change of pace after how long the last arc was. It's nice to explore more of the world and focus on Frieren's journey with Stark and Fern while also revisiting her prior adventure. The fights this
#JujutsuKaisen Despite an uneven first half, the culling games part 1 won me over with its stronger second half. A lot of awesome fights. 8/10
Live action Zelda will probably fall through a portal or something.
#Oshinoko Oshi No Season 3 finished up today and...I'm going to be honest, I'm watching more out of obligation than engagement at this point. The melodrama has never been what had me the most engaged with the show and the showbiz aspect has taken a backseat to that. 7/10
#ProjectHailMary #HailMary #AndyWeir Watched Project Hail Mary with the wife and loved it but noticed some interesting adaptation choices so I decided to write about it open.substack.com/pub/zdml/p/p...
tossing Pikmin at a large foe and beating the absolute shit out of them and the enemy variety is impressive for a game like this. Looking forward to playing the other games where I imagine the series only got better. This one is around a 7.5/10 but still really fun despite it's drawbacks.
#Pikmin Beat Pikmin 1. A really fun time but shows it's age. Can be frustrating with how much it seems the Pikmin aren't doing what you tell them and their pathing AI can be kind of dumb. It's also challenging at times but sometimes it was my own stupidity making it difficult. But nothing beats
#ProjectHailMary #AndyWeir With Project Hail Mary coming out, I figured I'd Just repost my recent review of Andy Weir's 'worst' book, Artemis. Enjoy!
#ProjectHailMary #Andyweir Project Hail Mary is arguably Andy Weir's best book. But what about his worst book? And just because it's his worst book, is it really all that bad?
#Pixar #Onward Got around to watching Onward and it was a fun but very uneven movie. The older brother in particular got very annoying around the middle and because of that the movie stumbled on its message a bit. But it manages to stick the landing in an incredibly beautiful ending Good 7/10 time
bit like a straight to dvd sequel that while it had interesting themes...didn't do much with them, and overall the movie didn't have much oomph. Still, enjoyable. 7/10
#Frozen #Disney Finally got around to watching Frozen 2 and thought it was an enjoyable enough way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon. Animation was gorgeous, I still really like the characters, and the story had some interesting themes. But...also felt like the music was lesser, the plot felt a
