26. It’s Not Only The Violence: Women are Enraged by Men’s Cultivated Ignorance A weekend long read that might make your blood boil, but might also help have better conversations about hard things.

"If men aren’t reading women, they aren’t citing them; if they aren’t citing them, they aren’t listening to them or sharing their thinking; and the result is that women’s authority is effectively erased from daily relevance and from the historical and scientific record. It means women are erased."

This is a well-documented pattern in medical research and reflects systemic gender bias in pain assessment and treatment.👇

OVER 630 ABORIGINAL
DEATHS IN CUSTODY 35 years ago today the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths made 339 recommendations to address the number of our people dying in
prisons and at the hands of the police. Today, the vast majority of those life-saving recommendations have not been properly implemented, and the number of our people dying
in custody is at the highest rate ever recorded. Aboriginal people make up just 3.8% of Australia's population but more than a third of this country's prisoners. The numbers are rising as we are targeted by racist 'tough on crime' policies in this country. We are now one of the most imprisoned populations
in the world.

WHAT WAS THE
ROYAL COMMISSION? The Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody was an inquiry called by the Australian Government in 1987 in response to the staunch activism of families, and growing public concern
about deaths in prisons and at the hands of police. Over four years, it investigated 99 individual deaths and the systemic problems that
contributed to them. The Commission's final report in April 1991 found major failures by governments, police and prison authorities, and made 339 recommendations to end
deaths in custody.

CALL TO ACTION The Albanese government needs to take real action to address the incarceration and deaths in
custody crisis. Immediate Priorities must include: • A national oversight body to monitor and drive the implementation of the Royal Commission,
and hold governments to account. • A framework of penalties for states and territories that breach Closing the Gap targets
around incarceration. • Legislated national minimum standards for policing, prisons, child prisons and the criminal
legal system. • An independent police oversight body
for investigations of police conduct
- no more cops investigating cops.

Rinehart's "Advance" preps for MAGA blitz - The Klaxon Australia’s main “MAGA” group is preparing to launch an attack ad over surging fuel prices — while failing to point out they are caused by Donald Trump’s America and Israel starting a war.

🚨Australia's MAGA movement –– run by a handful of billionaires –– is preparing to launch an attack ad over surging fuel prices....While failing to mention the cause is MAGA US President Donald Trump's invasion of Iran.

Tradwife movement ‘attracts men who are hostile to women’ The strongest predictor of support for women staying at home and deferring to their husband is not, as researchers expected, chivalry but ‘hostile sexism’

"Among young American men, the strongest predictor of support for the tradwife lifestyle was not gallantry but hostility towards women"

Apparently this is not what researchers "expected". Which makes one wonder: had these researchers thought about it for 30 seconds?

So cheapest fuel on earth, made here, other countries doing whatever doesn't affect supply.

Anyone who doesn't want this - ask why.

Particularly if they're presenting themselves as "Australia first".

Anonymous $200,000 donation helps free dinner service as demand doubles The cash donation alongside a free van will help the charity continue to feed people in need and allow it to expand its service.

Australia, 2026, people lining up for charity food.

We have hundreds of billions of dollars for arms, but people are lining up for charity food.

This is twisted and wrong.

My latest for @crikey.com.au on why the Danish model of tacking right on immigration doesn’t work—even in Denmark.

Yet from Aus to the UK, politicians keep recycling this strategy… 👇🏼

Great summary of how 'anti-immigration' claims are flawed. Even better, its explained in terms One Nation supporters and people the NSN hoped to recruit will understand. #auspol

This is utter garbage. I believe in net zero. We need to get there. But renewables are not competitive. That's why they are subsidised. Fossil fuel markets are highly competitive. It shouldn't be hard to hold these two thoughts at the same time.

You might have formed the impression that Paul Johnson, former director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, knows what he's talking about. The media treats him like the voice of God. But here he is - and not for the first time - talking out of his hat. Let's break it down in a short thread. 🧵

Plus people on welfare are not the problem. Neither are migrants.

That would be the billionaires & the rich not being appropriately taxed, and systems including policy that target those in poverty & middle income earners instead. This is a distraction technique.
