Proof copy of the book together with its press release. The cover shows the silhouettes of twin girls against an analogue clock face, which is presented at an angle. Both girls are holding magnifying glasses and in addition, one holds a rectangular picture frame.
Love, love, love @mharrisonauthor.bsky.social’s middle grades and am thrilled to have been sent a proof of twins Spike & Merry’s 2nd outing, A Clock Strikes Murder.
Out 12/03, enormous thanks go to Lizzie @simonkidsuk.bsky.social

Twin sisters, Merry and Spike, were born in different years and have a strange effect on time. A murder mystery with a magical twist. @simonandschuster.bsky.social
A reminder that many decisions in publishing are based on opinion: bestsellers that were initially rejected, including The Wind in the Willows, The Color Purple & The Time Traveller’s Wife.

It’s even more ridiculous than the first two, if you can believe that’s possible! x
Ahh! Thank you so much, Jacqui! Grinning like a shark to read this (while hard at work on book 3)!
I’m sharing my review of the hilarious There’s a Shark in My Pants by @mharrisonauthor.bsky.social, illustrated by David Tazzyman, for today’s #PictureBookFriday recommendation. Out 03/07 for 3+ readers from @simonandschuster.bsky.social #KidlitUK

The book, the cover of which shows a small cartoon child in beachwear clutching an enormous shark, and its press release.

In case this helps anyone feel better, I went on a writing retreat once and found it ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to write. I felt trapped and constantly guilty for not writing, and aware everyone else as beavering away. It was like being in an exam when everyone's scribbling and you're not.
The second #SundayMorningBookChat is in honour of great series! Series are a great way to hook someone in to reading… so what are your favourite series both complete and not finished yet…
Very excited for this! Click the link below to book your school’s FREE event ticket!

5 years ago today that this book went on sub to publishers.
I remember the nerves - swiftly followed by the wonder.
It was so huger than anything I dared dream possible for myself.
My life has changed completely over the past 5 years - all really because of one heartfelt story about a Bear. ❤️
Due to an awful mix up, I went to the crossroads & sold my soul to Santa.
If you’re a children’s book illustrator and are looking for agent representation in the new year , I’ve put together a guide to help 🧵 #kidlitart #kidlituk #kidlitmegafeed
How awful! Please could you DM me an address to send to?
This is the kitchen of a girl in my son’s class at school. Their house burnt down on Sat night.
The family are safe but they lost everything.
Do any authors/illustrators/PR peeps have any books they could send two girls aged 1.5 & 7.5?
(They’ve been offered books/clothes/toys/a place to stay)

If you as a parent do not want your child to read about something, that is your job as a parent to oversee their reading. It should absolutely not affect what children who are not yours are reading.
Happy Krampusnacht everyone...
Agreed. And to add, it's weird how many adults think children should mostly be reading books from their own childhoods. As someone who loves my old children's books I thought I'd pass them all on but the truth is only a few make it through and that's totally fine.
Thrilled that THERE’S A BEACH IN MY PANTS (or THERE’S SAND UP MY BUM, as my dear old uncle calls it) is shortlisted for Peters Books Children’s Book of the Year in the picture books category.
Voting is open to public librarians and primary and secondary school staff. peters.co.uk/pboty2025-vote
It was a pleasure to spend today at Waterstones Watford, meeting some special readers who’d come on such a blustery day to get their books signed! Wonderful also to chat to Alastair Chisholm & Jamie Littler (pictured). HUGE thanks to Sue Chambers, bookseller extraordinaire, for organising.
Last night reading up that the Stiperstones in 'Gone To Earth' are real. This morning finding the blog post by @g0blinegg.bsky.social 👀 nearlyknowledgeablehistory.blogspot.com/2021/05/the-...
Yes, that’s true. I’ve also had times where the only thing that keeps me on SM is that I’ve got a work presence there. I think I’ve been persuaded to keep the website, lots of good reasons.
That’s really interesting! Might give that a try. Thank you.
