Congrats Hauke. Very happy for you and your team!

Latest offering. How myelin ensheathes axons!
Born from chat with Dwight Bergles on "weird things" we saw oligodendrocytes do, like making "bridges" between sheaths.
Driven forward by Cody Call, Kelly Monk, and myelin folks @edinburgh-uni.bsky.social
Enjoy!

Congrats Wendy. Super happy for you and to have another myelin lab in the north-east region!!
Latest from the lab, led by @ara-donia.bsky.social and @juliavdkorput.bsky.social
Huge team effort, with immense contributions by friends from nearby and around the globe.

Congrats!
King's cake day in the Myelin Lab!
We identified how mechanical forces shape myelin development. The TMEM63A channel in oligodendrocytes converts physical cues into molecular signals that control myelin growth.

Pleased to share that I’ve been awarded a Catalyst Award from the @mssocietyuk.bsky.social 🥳
Many thanks to the MS Society UK for supporting our research in the @almeidalab.bsky.social and helping to advance understanding of MS!
Congratulations Sophie!!!!
Congrats! This is huge!
A flyer displaying the same information as written in the post, with two images of two astrocytes around a blood vessel and one newly formed oligodendrocyte, along with logs our sponsors Avantor and Plasmidsaurus.

NSAIDs are known to alleviate pain by reducing inflammation. A study in Nature Communications shows that selective inhibition of the prostaglandin E2 receptor in Schwann cells eliminates pain without disrupting the protective and healing functions of inflammation. #medsky 🧪

🚀 Our new paper is out in Nature Communications!
We uncovered a mechanistic switch to boost myelination: deleting Gtf2i in myelinating glia enhances Sox10/Mbp activity → thicker myelin, faster conduction, improved motor coordination.
