What a race! MCR was legendary.
Paced well for about 33km but heat got to me and HR soared 🥵
8mins over my A goal but still managed a PB. Really had to dig for it though!
A great experience and a lot to take from it. On to the next!

Well, here we are.
16 weeks, 850km covered, hours spent in the gym and it all boils down to this.

Decided I don’t like tapering!
Mentally checked out a bit after the last long run of the block and feel like I can’t be arsed to run a marathon next weekend 😅
Still, it’s been a good block, bar a couple of niggles, here’s hoping for a good race 🤞

Hi Hilary, I’m doing Manchester at the end of the month. It’s only my second after London last year!
I’m sure it’s like riding a bike, it’ll all click back into place once you get into the training 👍
Week 14 - Nearly there…
First week of taper is always a bit of a myth. Volume not drastically low, but nice to not be on a long run of circa 3hrs!!
Looking forward to next week, dialling it down even more in prep for the big day.

Biggest run of the block completed, now time to taper.
Absolutely cooked now. Part man, part energy gel, part hot cross bun… I’ve got nothing left atm!
Number is in, feels real now. Time to focus on R&R before the finale!

Another 20miler in the legs this week. Achilles feels a bit sore now so hopefully it doesn’t get worse 🤞
So tired at the moment, in the trenches of training. I’ll miss it when it’s over though!

Good week, bit all over the place.
Sometimes you have to adapt to accommodate life, but you can still get it done!
Finished the week off with the Twin Lakes 20, a great event despite being a torturous 2 lapper!

Peak weeks are here and my body is already tired, so I’ve been working on creating my own physio team to aid my recovery 😅

I’ve got female friends who get cat-called or harassed while running on a weekly basis. It’s crazy. I’ve never experienced that as a man.
Toxic masculinity is being fuelled by certain types out there and it needs to stop.

Went MP for 16k and slight push to tempo for final 5km. Pleased with the effort for such a hilly course!

Congrats! It looked beautiful this morning!
I used it in my last marathon training block as a supplement, not replace meals.
On days where I had long evening runs, I would have a shake before leaving work which would tide me over until I could eat after getting back later in the evening.
I had the banana one. Tastes odd but got used to it.
Week 1 done ✅
Good first week featuring ice, gym, physio and Parkrun.
Still feeling a bit sluggish from Christmas, but good to get back into a routine. Onwards and upwards 💪

I’ve now done my final week of running for the year. Been pretty consistent all year, and even more so since my HM PB on October.
Thought it would be a good idea to schedule some rest in over Christmas before the marathon block kicks in 💪
