You then ID the parasites π

Not everyone's cup of tea, but at least someone in my family has talent. A complete strip down and rebuild of an R34 Nissan Skyline. Just awesome!
On a similar theme, I turned up for my interviews at Butterfly Conservation back in 2006 in a Subaru Impreza WRX. Could've been an epic fail π
Indeed, some will be 100%.
The VC30 Bedfordshire trap is on for a couple of nights. #TeamMoth
The fun is in the rearing not knowing what pops out at the end of the process π
Indubitably! π
Well that's possibly 3 new tetrads in VC30 Bedfordshire for Saturnia pavonia (Emperor Moth) with 3 males coming in quickly to the EMP lure in each tetrad in the Ravensden area. ##TeamMoth
If anyone has gorse nearby, it's worth a bit of your time to check for this species. The male flight is what drew my attention to it as it's quite different to Cydia ulicetana, plus it looks almost pure white in flight, not grey.
Yes... far too much π
Not bad for a smartphone. It is time to get the big guns out camera-wise, I think.
Check the gorse. Cydia ulicetana is also flying but it's greyish in appearance in flight. It's also a bit more erratic. G. internana (male) was much whiter and a more dainty flight.
Indeed... I've literally just had a male Emperor Moth fly past me!
I've yet to look at the status I Staffordshire.
While birding this morning on Putney Heath, I noticed a white micro-moth flying around Gorse. It settled and I managed to get a smartphone shot. Unless I'm mistaken, this is a male Grapholita internana (White-underwing Piercer), which would constitute a very good Surrey/London record. #MothsMatter
Abrostola triplasia (Dark Spectacle) overnight, 16 April 2025, Putney Heath, SW London (VC17). #TeamMoth
Herts. and Middx. Moth Group ( @lizgoodyear.bsky.social et al.,) hit the big time last night on BBC's "Have I got news for you" presented by (of all people, friend to moths) Monty Don, when the brilliantly named "Moth Mumblings" newsletter got a mention. Good episode, too. #teammoth
Missed it! iPlayer it is this evening then.
Indeed, I'm allergic to records containing elements of vegetation! π
Creating more headaches for me π
They are as you say...
1:1 overnight, Cheadle Towers (VC39), so just scraped by without triggering a #Wogan. A Hebrew Character saved the day, or should that be night? Anyway, back to my coffee and whatever the day brings. Image from 2019 #TeamMoth
Not certain then? π
What he says β¬οΈ
Hi Simon, I guess I've just not been in the right place at the right time.
It is yes. It soon looses the purple sheen, but a striking Geometrid.
Anticlea derivata (Streamer) overnight Cheadle Towers, Staffordshire (VC39). In pristine condition and new for the garden... which is nice! #TeamMoth
I think mine was also from London, last year.
I've only ever seen one, Tim.
Looks good to me, Clive.
Things are picking up!
