Feeling adventurous I ended up in a bus full of Japanese people singing Japanese songs and enjoying their free day going to the Noto peninsula.
The Wajima visit grew for me after the earthquake that burnt it all just a month later. The entire place I took many pictures of just doesn't exist anymore.

I‘m no expert on Japanese feelings towards modern architecture (I think they don’t even know yet what to really think about it) but you sound quite on point, because who cares about materiality if you just need a roof to reconstruct ;)
(this somehow makes me think of Shinohara‘s Takinawa house)
