Yes! So true

That’s so cool! The three of them are so great!
Absolutely!! 🤞🤞🤞
I’m late to the party tonight but wanted to say that I find podcasts to be the most helpful way of staying in the know! Some of my favorites:
The Sh-t No One Tells You About Writing
Middle Grade Matters
Writers With Wrinkles

#writingcommunity
Yup!! Bigggg fan of @bethandlisapod.bsky.social!!! They even mentioned #kidlitchat on an episode as being a great community resource 😊
I’m obsessed with that podcast!! Loved that episode and really hoping @youngteenlit.bsky.social takes off! I’ve seen the gap first hand and we need it!!! #kidlitchat
lol, hooray!! 🥳
But that same ms got me an R&R which got me my FABULOUS agent. My debut, WHEN YOU WRITE BACK, is coming out with a trad publisher in less than a year. All this to say, keep at it! Keep writing, keep putting yourself out there, keep working on your craft & you'll get there! #RevPit #WritingCommunity
And please keep in mind that if you were not selected as a winner, or a runner-up, or even shortlisted, this is not in any way a reflection on you as a writer or on the quality of your ms! I submitted my ms to #RevPit years ago when I was a querying author and did not get selected for anything...
Also, just a note to folks who submitted to me for #RevPit: I'm still in the process of sending reveal emails to my #10Queries picks as well as folks who were on my shortlist. Bear with me! I should have everything out by the EOD Thursday.

Thanks, Laurie 😊
Super excited to work with @rachellsarnoff.bsky.social on her novel THE BOOK OF HOURS!
Thank you so much to everyone who submitted to me this year. There were so many amazing stories and it was truly difficult to choose! Good luck to all of you in your writing journeys! #revpit #writingcommunity

WELCOME TO PREVIEW WEEK!
While we're waiting for our winners, let's go over what you need for camp.
1st- What is #CampRevPit?
#CampRevPit came out of the 2020 Annual Contest when mental health was suffering and was an idea for how to help writers cope with rejection after winners were announced.
Genres are noted in each query/1st pages response.
FP10: Writing is good on a line level but to match the genre should tighten up to keep a quicker, tenser pace. Incorporate movement into this convo. Atmosphere is strong—bring to next level by upping emotional interiority of MC and their reaction to it all, viscerally. #Revpit #10Queries
QL10: Love this! Setting and premise are well-matched. Logline is fire. Later we mention interesting elements but we need to weave that into the plot. Some assumptions made that aren’t backed up, need explanations. Stakes are high and very promising! #revpit #10queries
QUERY #10: MG/Mystery & Thriller
FP9: Definitely in the action from the start! Vivid descriptions! Missing emotional interiority, however. Need to get in their brain, not just their body, so can get invested right away. Next section gets mired in background details. Have a dilemma for MC in 1st 5p. #Revpit #10Queries
QL9: Fun story idea and nice twists! Worthy issue to explore but be careful not to lean too heavily on theme. Focus on MC, why do we care about them? What does their evolution look like? If we recenter the QL on that arc, will be more compelling. #Revpit #10Queries
QUERY #9: MG/Contemporary
FP8: Prologue has lots of potential but right now drifting from mysterious to confusing. Next chapter much stronger with nice amount of tension, good job showing the complicated dynamics. Can we put more of the GMC of the POV character to push us forward? #Revpit #10Queries
QL8: Super intriguing! Lots of tension, and that’s great, but not sure the tension carries the story forward beyond rehashing the past? What’s at stake for each character? Need GMC for each MC that is informed by the past but carries us into the future. #Revpit #10Queries
QUERY #8: A/Book Club & Women’s Fiction
FP7: Cheating here & going back to the QL—your novel’s wordcount is high for this genre. This is showing up on in the FP. Writing needs tightening. Good skills but pace should be FLYING here. Make us curious. Move a little quicker and give us a sense of urgency. #Revpit #10Queries
QL7: OMG this QL is excellent! Follows the Hook, Book, Cook format and all 3 are working. Escalating tension is clear, plot is compelling and topic feels VERY relevant. Bio answers the question: why are YOU the best person to write this novel? Well done! #Revpit #10Queries
QUERY #7: A/Book Club & Women’s Fiction
FP6: Format is cool! Stay consistent with it. As to plot, would focus on the future, what’s happening in this moment/why are we starting the book here? Right now, very backstory heavy. Bring us right into the action! #Revpit #10Queries
