What barriers do you see in expanding #MOUD services in community pharmacy settings, and how can we power through? #PharmaSky #MedSky
With recent regulatory changes expanding who can prescribe medications for opioid use disorder, community pharmacists are uniquely positioned to deliver care to patients suffering with chemical dependence, turning the tide on one of Washington State’s most urgent public health crises.
Led by Drs. Clayton English, Jenny Arnold, Jenny Bacci and Ryan Hansen, the team will study how community pharmacies can become accessible, life-saving hubs for opioid use disorder treatment in the neighborhoods hit hardest by fentanyl overdoses. #OUD
Could your neighborhood pharmacy bring an end to the opioid crisis? 💊🤔 A team of researchers at UWSoP just received a $200,000 pilot grant from the UW Population Health Initiative — one of only four projects funded — to explore exactly that: sop.washington.edu/sop-research... #PharmaSky #MedSky

This new research provides fundamental evidence to support the expansion of pharmacy-based immunization services, reinforcing the role of pharmacists as key healthcare providers in ensuring timely and equitable access to pediatric care. #Vaccination #Vaccines #Research #ResearchImpact
While pharmacists in Washington state have been vaccinating children for over 40 years, many states still prohibit them from doing so.
The study found that commercially-insured children who received vaccinations at a pharmacy were just as likely – if not more likely – to attend their well-child visits on time.
Can pharmacists improve childhood vaccination rates without disrupting well-child visits? Short answer: YES. According to #HuskyPharmacists Shiven Bhardwaj and Jennifer Bacci, the latest research looks promising: academic.oup.com/healthaffair... #RXSky #MedSky #PedsIDSky #PharmSky #Pharmacist
"We have come a long way in preventing disease through vaccination and we must not lose our progress."
