The goldcrest is one of the smallest birds in Europe. Its length does not exceed 10 cm, and its weight is a mere 4–8 g. Its main distinguishing feature is a bright yellow-orange crest on its head, which the bird raises when excited.

Snow covers the foreground with sparse trees while the background features Angels Landing and the walls of Zion Canyon.

West Rim Trail climbs above Scout Landing. We added on a higher snowy knoll to climb further to look down on Angels Landing one direction and into the Narrows on the other. Thank goodness for Microspikes and poles.
