How about a change...is there a #MillMonday? We have some stunners in the Chilterns, but one near Tring is in need of some help - and they are NOT looking for your wallets but rather your calendars! Ford End Watermill, powered by a #chalkstream since 1616 at least needs volunteers. See images

Imagine if a bunch of powerful, middle aged to elderly women women were part of a group which trafficked young boys across continents so they could sexually abuse them. It went on for years, everyone in power knew, said nothing. Can you imagine that? No. They'd have been burnt at the stake.

Anyone here know people at #HES #HistoricEnvironmentScotland

There's several 'phases' of detection, based on health of turves, and some can't be more than a week old given the weather

After a tip-off from a wild camper, we went to investigate a recent moorland burning incident on Dartmoor this weekend.

It's in an SSSI & SAC, on peat over 40cm deep, & on land belonging to... Alexander Darwall.

So did @naturalengland.bsky.social, DEFRA and Darwall give permission for this burn?

If all Earth's insects suddenly disappeared, here's what would happen — BBC Wildlife Magazine Why are insects so crucial to the world? Richard Jones explains what would happen if they weren't here March 21, 2025 Imagine — a world without head-lice, bed-bugs and mosquitoes, no malaria or yellow...

The idea of reviving abstraction in Chesham has been finally stopped. Constructive discussion has arrived at the correct outcome, thanks to those involved.
Reliable flows in the River Chess in Chesham have led to the arrival of water voles, otters, trout & rare invertebrates.

Thames Water data reveals raw sewage discharges in rivers rose 50% in 2024 Exclusive: Almost 300,000 hours of raw effluent poured into waterways, figures show, up from 196,000 in 2023

“Thames Water has admitted it left its sewage treatment works to crumble for decades as a result of underinvestment. Its own documents say it “sweated these assets” & as a result its infrastructure poses a risk to public safety, water supply & the environment."

Hey Bluesky!! I made a big stink at work until my organisation came over here from the Other Place. Let's reward the decision by showing the way we can engage and come together here instead of the zero engagement over there.
Repost or like this please - help extend the reach of the CNL ❤️
